Colac Self Storage commenced business way back in 1997 with one shed that included a few storage units. Self storage was still a relatively new concept at the time and local Terry Loughnane thought it was a concept that might work in Colac. Those first units filled up and Terry built another shed, and the pattern continued until there were 12 buildings on the one hectare site.
In 2020 the facility changed ownership, to be run by a local family. The management has also changed, with Colac Self Storage now professionally managed by long standing local real estate agency, Charles Stewart & Co. Under Charles Stewart management a remote contactless signup procedure has been introduced, as a response to the Covid -19 pandemic which forced social distancing and arm’s length transactions.
New management has brought new ideas to Colac Self Storage, with the introduction of a new logo for the business and of course the new website and Facebook page. In addition more secure outdoor caravan and boat storage onsite has been created. Soon to be available will be packing materials and boxes for purchase from Colac Self Storage
Plans for the business include further upgrades to site security, including new gates with pin code access and more security cameras.
